Adnan Said, MD

About

Adnan Said, MD, is a UW Health gastroenterologist and hepatologist and a professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

He also serves as medical director of the liver transplant program and liver transplant and hepatitis liaison at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veteran’s Administration Hospital.

Dr. Said provides diagnosis and treatment for early to advanced liver conditions such as cirrhosis, end-stage liver disease and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. He also provides therapies for patients with chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes that can affect liver metabolism and health. He also cares for patients who are hospitalized with advanced liver disease and related complications.

Dr. Said’s research focuses on  advanced liver disease, particularly on the growing epidemic of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and metabolic syndrome and liver cancer.

In his free time, Dr. Said likes to play squash, spend time with his family and listen to music from the 1970s and ‘80s.

I'm excited about research advances which will allow us to bring new technologies and therapies to not only heal people with disease, but also to prevent disease.
