About

Aaron Hess, MD, PhD is an anesthesiologist   at UW Health and an assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. 

Dr. Hess keeps patients comfortable and safe during a wide range of surgeries and procedures. He specializes in providing anesthesia during high-risk surgeries, including liver and kidney transplants, major abdominal cancer surgery and acute care surgery during emergency and critical care situations.  

Working with the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Dr. Hess focuses his research on understanding changes in red cell masses and improving storage and survival of blood components.   

In his free time, Dr. Hess enjoys playing guitar, building instruments and furniture, painting, knitting, and writing poetry.  

As the child of two doctors I had amazing experiences. Now, I work in the medical profession to give back.
