Staff Spotlight: Monica Feiler
You walk by them every day. They greet you with a warm “Hello” or “How’ve you been?” They are our ever-so-valuable, and indispensable, front desk staff.
We are very fortunate to have a highly-skilled and socially friendly staff working behind the facility’s front desk. Many of them have been here for years. We’d like to feature one of these dedicated and essential employees in this Staff Spotlight – Monica Feiler.
Monica has worked assorted weekday evenings and countless weekends here since 2001. We’re sure that you’ve been greeted with a warm “hello” from Monica on one of your weekend or evening visits. And chances are that Monica knows your name (and, quite likely, exchanged playful “barbs” with you).
Our front desk staff juggles numerous tasks that keep the facility running smoothly and keeps our participants happy. Monica is as good as they get. So we’re delighted to tell you a little bit more about Monica Feiler in this staff spotlight.
The youngest of 7 children, Monica was born at Madison General hospital and spent her first nine years here in Madison. She relocated to the state of New York for years 9 and 10 before moving to Milwaukee for years 11-16. She finished high school (age 17-18) back here at Middleton High School.
Despite her frequent moves (or possibly because of them) coupled with the abundance of brothers and sisters she was blessed with, Monica mastered the art of quickly and easily making friends – a gift that so many of the staff and participants here have experienced first-hand.
During weekday/daytime hours Monica works for Greater Madison Orthodontics where she has numerous roles. Supporting two staff orthodontists and hundreds of patients, Monica wears a variety of hats. From handling imaging and consultation preparation to responding and managing patient orthodontic emergencies, Monica is an invaluable cog in the Greater Madison Orthodontics wheel.
But Monica continues to strive for more. She is pursuing becoming a Licensed Dental Hygienist and is taking classes at Madison College to fulfill the prerequisites for the program.
Monica has a son, Brian, who attends Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Monica enjoys getting to as many of Brian’s lacrosse games as she can. Monica and her Golden Retriever/Border Collie mix, Ginger, will be moving into a condo in Verona later this summer.
In her free time, Monica likes to cook. Asked about “what” she likes to cook, Monica claims to enjoy cooking “everything” - main dishes, desserts, anything - as long as it’s from scratch. Monica’s hobbies also include home remodeling projects. From painting to flooring, and lawn care to gardening, Monica enjoys rolling up her sleeves and getting her hands a little dirty taking on a project.
Monica likes to bicycle, lift weights, and walk Ginger to keep active. And now a few words directly from Monica:
