Building Projects Update: Inside and Out

Aquatic Center Updates

The Aquatic Center (both pools) and both the men's and women's showers will be closed from Monday, August 19th through Friday, September 6th for maintenance and repairs.

We recognize that this is an inconvenience to our users but keeping a first-rate Aquatic Center operating at peak efficiency requires annual maintenance. This work is intentionally scheduled during the slowest weeks of our season between the end of Summer classes and the beginning of Fall programming.

Projects to be completed include:

  • Installing a new sand filtration system
  • Adding UV filtration systems
  • New pool pumps
  • Re-painting both men's and women's shower rooms
  • Detailed cleaning of aquatic center

The locker rooms and 1st floor Fitness Center will remain open during this period. Please note that the showers will not be available.

Other Important Facility Updates

Exercise Class Room Projects

TRX Suspension Training is coming! We strongly support the philosophy of "training movements, not muscles" and are excited to bring these classes here. The large exercise class room will have significant structural modifications done to facilitate these classes. In addition, a new sound system will be installed into the small exercise class room.

Parking Lot Resurfacing

The Research Park Clinic parking lot will have an additional layer of asphalt applied from Friday, Aug. 23 through Sunday, Aug. 25. Approximately two-thirds of the parking lot will be closed during this time. As was the case last year, staff will not be parking in the lot during this time to make as many parking slots available to our patrons as possible.

For Assistance During This Time

Fitness Center members may request to put their membership on hold over this period by stopping at the front desk and completing a form. Members requesting this membership hold will not have access to the Fitness Center until work is completed. However, the entire length of the membership hold will be added on to their membership.

For our avid pool users, we will provide a listing of alternative pools you may consider over this brief period. These could be picked up at the front desk or from any aquatics staff.

As you can see, it's going to be a busy few weeks around here. This work is intentionally scheduled for our break period between class sessions to minimize inconvenience. But we know that there is no perfect time for these repairs and we appreciate your patience and support during this brief period of projects. We're confident that all the projects will go smoothly and leave us primed for a great fall season ahead!
