You are invited to a special UW Carbone Cancer Center presentation with refreshments, followed by questions for the presenters and an optional tour of the (Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Lab.

After a brief welcome from Dr. Howard Bailey and Dr. Walt Longo about the history of bone marrow transplant, the presenters will focus on the "other" side of BMT. They will share how graft versus host disease, the most common and dreaded complication of BMT, continues to plague successful transplantation at the UW and around the world. More importantly, they will discuss how UW physicians and researchers are working to minimize the impact of GVHD and ultimately eliminate it.

Susan Phillips will present the patient side of GVHD. Dr. Mark Juckett will discuss how the UW is stepping up to address GVHD through multiple venues including multidisciplinary care, clinical trials and novel approaches for prevention. Dr. Peiman Hematti will outline the goals to address GVHD and other diseases using technological advances and the research capacity of a GMP lab for cellular therapy.

We hope you will join us and others for an enlightening presentation and discussion.
