About

Erin Costanzo, PhD, is a health psychologist providing clinical care to patients at the UW Carbone Cancer Center. In her role, she serves as co-director of the Cancer Psychology Clinic, which evaluates and addresses the unique psychological concerns and challenges of people living with cancer. She is also a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Erin seeks to understand the biological, social, medical and psychological factors that affect patients living with cancer. To help people cope and adjust to their diagnoses and treatments, she develops treatment plans that address the whole person. At the same time, she guides patients as they manage their fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, depression and other symptoms that often occur with cancer diagnoses and treatment. The psychosocial challenges that transplant and cellular therapy recipients face also interest her.

She is part of a research group that develops and tests behavioral therapies that benefit the health and well-being of people recovering from cancer. The National Cancer Institute, UW Carbone Cancer Center and the UW Institute for Clinical and Translational Research all support her research efforts.
