Matthew Heign joined UW Health as Vice President, Chief Technology Officer in September 2015. In this role, Matthew develops and leads the strategic vision for the improvement and integration of UW Health’s expansive technology infrastructure and architecture.
Prior to joining UW Health, Matthew served as Vice President, Chief Technology Officer for Lutheran Health Network, an eight hospital, 1,000-plus bed integrated care delivery system based in Fort Wayne, Ind. Matthew was responsible for overhauling all aspects of Lutheran Health’s information technology system in order to deliver a robust infrastructure with high availability systems.
Prior to joining Lutheran Health Network, Matthew held the position of Vice President, Chief Technology Officer for Star Financial Group where he guided an IT operations turnaround including: staffing, technology, vendor management and policies and procedures. Prior to Star Financial, Matthew held various progressively more responsible positions with Bank One Corporation, culminating in being named as Assistant Vice President.
Matthew also served our country in the United States Army from 1988-1992, where he earned the rank of Sergeant and the Indiana National Guard from 2001-2002.
He holds a bachelor's degree in Telecommunications and Networking from DeVry Institute of Technology Calvin College and a master's degree in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.
