Getting Around UW Hospital

For driving directions to UW Hospital and Clinics, please refer to the UW Hospital and Clinics page in our Locations and Maps section. The following information helps you find your way around the inside of the hospital:

To find a destination inside UW Hospital and Clinics or the University of Wisconsin Paul P. Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center, please observe the following general wayfinding guidelines. Main Street Destinations and Inpatient Units

Follow the flooring known as Main Street on the second floor (the floor on which you enter from the parking ramp) to the correct elevator lobby, then take the elevator to your desired floor and follow signs to your destination.

As shown on the Main Street Map (PDF), which is also available at the hospital's information center, the elevator banks are in alphabetical order from B at the south end to K at the north end of the building.
 
Atrium Destinations

Follow Main Street on the second floor to the clinics lobby. From the clinics lobby, follow signs directing you into the Atrium. Once inside the Atrium, follow signs for your destination. The Atrium elevators are at the back.

Wayfinding Examples
  • To visit a patient on 4B East, follow Main St. to the B elevators. Take the elevator to the fourth floor, and follow the signs to 4B East. To visit the cafeteria from a patient floor, take the nearest elevator to the second floor. Follow Main St. to the H elevators and go to the first floor.
     
  • To visit the Breast Cancer Clinic in the Atrium, follow Main St. to the Clinics Lobby, then follow signs into the Atrium. Take the Atrium elevators to the first floor and follow signs to the breast center.
