Thyroid Cancer
At the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center, the state's only comprehensive cancer center, patients are seen by a multidisciplinary healthcare team including endocrinologists and endocrine surgeons who work with pathology, radiology, and nuclear medicine for the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid cancer. Patients can be seen by an endocrinologist for a diagnositic work-up and then be seen the same day by an endocrine surgeon if they are determined to have cancer.
Our endocrine surgeons have extensive experience performing various thyroid operations which are offered to patients. Thyroidectomy may be one such treatment option. Thyroidectomy consists of the removal of all of the thyroid. Thyroid surgery is almost always successful when performed by an experienced endocrine surgeon.
