Segmental Resection

Related Conditions

The University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center, the state's only comprehensive cancer center, offers segmental resection for patients with colon cancer.

This type of surgery is commonly performed for colon cancer. It involves removing the cancer and some normal tissue around the cancer to ensure all of the cancer is removed.

In addition, lymph nodes draining this area are also removed so they can be checked for cancer, which may determine further treatment.
