The University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center, the state's only comprehensive cancer center, sees more than 100 patients a year with sarcomas. Sarcomas are cancers in which malignant or cancerous tumors arise in the connective tissue of the body including the bone, cartilage, fat, muscle, and blood vessels. Sarcomas are broadly divided into three groups: those that arise from the bone (bone cancer); those that arise in female organs (gynecologic sarcomas); and those that arise from the soft tissue (soft tissue sarcoma).

Our specialists with expertise in diagnosing and treating all three groups of sarcomas, include orthopedic surgeons, gynecologic oncologists, medical oncologists and radiation oncologists. Our multidisciplinary team works together with patients to provide the best possible care. This may include standard treatment or sarcoma specific clinical trials.
