The UW Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Clinic has developed a Lung Cancer Task Force, comprised of patients, family, friends, community leaders and concerned supporters, to drive fundraising, patient/legislative advocacy and marketing and special events. Their efforts are dedicated to advancing lung cancer research and raising awareness of the disease.
Lung cancer kills more than breast, colon and prostate cancers combined.

It is the leading cause of death from all types of cancer worldwide, and the second leading cause of death in the U.S. (following only heart disease).

Yet, research funding for lung cancer has been disproportionately low compared to other types of cancer and other diseases for decades. This lack of research funding has sharply limited progress in the prevention, early detection and treatment of cancer.

New insights into lung cancer are critically needed. It is essential to translate new lung cancer initiatives into meaningful improvements in monitoring and treatment.
