Patients with hepatocellular carcinoma or primary liver cancer (cancer that starts in the liver) are seen at the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center, the state's only comprehensive cancer center, in our multidisciplinary clinic by a team of health care providers who specialize in liver cancer.
Treatment recommendations are highly individualized for each patient. Whenever possible, surgery will be offered to remove tumors from the liver. When this is not an option, our specialists at the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center have expertise in other advanced procedures to shrink or destroy cancer cells in the liver. These treatments options may also be available for cancers that have spread to the liver from other parts of the body.
