Director of Translational Imaging Research Working Group (TIRWG)

 

Robert Jeraj, PhD

Dr. Jeraj has a broad background in medical physics and specific training and expertise in key research areas. He has extensive research experience in the use of molecular imaging for treatment assessment and use of novel imaging in drug development. He leads the UW Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC) Imaging and Radiation Sciences scientific program and co-directs the UW Image Analysis Center (IMAC). As a leader of the TIRWG, he oversees concept development, protocol design and implementation in trials incorporating novel anti-cancer drugs with imaging endpoints. Among other duties, he is chair of two working groups on the Future of Medical Physics Research and Academic Training and Imaging for Treatment Assessment at the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM).  He is also a member of the Medical Physics committee at the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) and the Experimental Imaging Sciences Committee at American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN).

Scott Perlman, MD, MS

Dr. Perlman is the Section Chief of Nuclear Medicine, Director of the UW PET Imaging Center and Director of the Radiopharmaceutical Production Facility. His research interests include PET imaging in oncology and the use of positron emission tomography to evaluate inflammatory disease. Dr. Perlman provides expertise in a wide range of nuclear medicine services including general nuclear medicine, nuclear cardiology and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scans.

Ms. Alberti, the UWCCC's Assistant Director for Translational Research, has over 25 years of experience in oncology clinical research and offers expertise in all aspects of the clinical research process including protocol development, regulatory processes, budget/contract negotiations, data management, auditing, development of quality assurance workflows, federal and institutional reporting guidelines, HIPAA application, personnel issues, infrastructural guidance and study coordination guidelines. She also directs the UWCCC Office for Translational Research Services.

Katie Kovacich, BS

Ms. Kovacich is an Administrative Specialist in the UWCCC Office of Translational Research Services where she has experience assisting with the development and implementation of clinical imaging research. She has previous work experience in clinical trials as a research specialist in the UWCCC Cancer Therapy Discovery and Development research group. As the TIRC Administrative Coordinator, she provides administrative support to the UWCCC clinical research staff and investigators for any imaging-related industry, federal or investigator-initiated study.
