Using the Facility

For Existing iLab Users

  1. Click here to log-in: https://uwmadison.ilabsolutions.com/service_center/show_external/4084
  2. You will use your NetID credentials to log into iLab. From here you will be able to access core services and equipment for reservation.
  3. If you don’t have the subscription to use 3P equipment, you can purchase the subscription by making a service request in iLab. If you aren’t trained on the 3P equipment you would like to use, please contact the 3P Core at 262-3226 or email 3plab@lists.medicine.wisc.edu. 

For New PI iLab Users

 

To register for an account:

  1. Navigate to the core page: https://uwmadison.ilabsolutions.com/service_center/show_external/4084
  2. In the upper-right-hand corner of the screen, click “Login” or “Register” and then select, Click here to login or register using your institute login and password.
  3. You will be directed to an authentication page where you will need to enter your NetID and password.
  4. Once you have entered your credentials, click the ‘Login’ button
  5. You will be directed to an iLab registration page where you will need to fill out information about you and your lab.
  6. Once your registration has been submitted, iLab will be notified of your request. They will need to approve your membership before you can use iLab.
  7. Before you are able to request services and schedule equipment with the 3P Core, the following steps must be complete for your lab:

Lab Members Added to Lab in iLab:

  1. Log into iLab and select My Labs on the left navigation bar.
  2. Select the name of the lab for which you want to add lab members
  3. Select the ‘Membership Requests & Project’ tab. New membership requests will show at the top of this page.
  4. Click “Approve” to accept a member into your lab. Click “Reject” if they are not a member of your lab.

Funding Accounts Added to Lab in iLab

  1. Log into iLab and select My Labs on the left navigation bar.
  2. Select the name of the lab for which you want to add funding account.
  3. On the lab page, open the Membership Requests & Fund Numbers tab.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and select Manually add a new Project.
  5. Fill out the required information and select Add.
  6. The funding account will now be available in the Manage Projects table.
  7. Select the corresponding staff check boxes in the column for the funding account you just added in order to give them access to that funding string. 

Optionally you can designate a lab manager to complete the above required steps. To do this:

  1. Log into iLab and select My Labs on the left navigation bar.
  2. Select the name of the lab for which you want to designate a lab manager.
  3. On the lab page, open the Members tab.
  4. Find the member you want to designate as a lab manager and select the yellow pencil icon to the right of their name.
  5. In the Lvl: dropdown, change their level to Manager.
  6. If the member you have designated as a lab manager should also receive invoices for core services, select the Core Financial Contact checkbox.
  7. Select Save to the right of the member’s name.

For New Lab Member iLab Users

 

To register for an account:

  1. Navigate to the core page: https://uwmadison.ilabsolutions.com/service_center/show_external/4084
  2. In the upper-right-hand corner of the screen, click “Login” or “Register” and then select, Click here to login or register using your institute login and password.
  3. You will be directed to an authentication page where you will need to enter your UW Madison credentials.
  4. Once you have entered your credentials, click the ‘Login’ button
  5. You will be directed to an iLab Registration page where you will need to select your PI/Lab, and verify your contact information
  6. Once your registration has been submitted, your PI will receive a notification that you have requested membership to their lab in iLab. They will need to approve your membership and assign funding account for your use.

To Create an Equipment Reservation:

Once you have been accepted into your PI’s lab and assigned funding account, you can schedule equipment time.

  1. Navigate to the core page: https://uwmadison.ilabsolutions.com/service_center/show_external/4084
  2. Go to the “Login” button in the top right screen
  3. Enter your NetID and password, and sign in.
  4. Select the Schedule Equipment tab and click on the ‘View Schedule’ button next to the instrument of interest. Click and drag on the time frame you would like to schedule your reservation for.
  5. A window will pop up that will allow you to verify your reservations details and provide payment information before saving the reservation.

To Create a Service Request:

Once you have been accepted into your PI’s lab and assigned a funding account, you can create service requests.

  1. Navigate to the core page: https://uwmadison.ilabsolutions.com/service_center/show_external/4084
  2. Go to the “Login” button in the top right screen
  3. Enter your NetID and password, and sign in.
  4. Select the Request Services tab and click on the ‘Request Service’ button next to the service of interest.
  5. You will be asked to complete a form before submitting the request to the core.
  6. Your request will be pending review by the core. The core will review your request and either Agree to the work or they will ask for more information if needed.
