Audience
Registered nurses who will be responsible for providing care to pediatric patients with cancer and their families.
Course Content
- Acute lymphocytic leukemia
- Acute myeloid leukemia
- Chronic myeloid leukemia
- Lymphomas
- Wilms tumor
- Brain tumors
- Retinoblastoma
- Osteosarcoma
- Ewing's sarcoma
- Rhabdomyosarcoma
- Neuroblastoma
Purpose
To provide a basic overview of pediatric cancers, including the pathophyisiology and effects of these cancers on the pediatric patient. To review the present treatment modalities, their side effects and the nursing interventions that are associated with each of the treatment modalities.
