Audience
This two-day course is for registered nurses who care for adult and pediatric patients with benign and malignant hematology disorders.
Course Content
This basic Hematology Course is designed to educate nurses about the care of adult and pediatric hematologic disorders.
Day One Topics:
- Hematopoiesis
- Anemias
- Coagulopathies, including disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC)
- Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP)
- Hemophilia and von Willebrand disease
Day Two Topics:
- Lymphomas
- Multiple myeloma
- Acute and chronic leukemias
- Case studies
Purpose
This course prepares nurses to care for patients with hematologic disorders, provide teaching, and manage symptoms.
