Cervical cancer begins in the cervix, the part of the uterus that opens to the vagina and it usually affects reproductive age women. Physicians at University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center see over 100 new patients diagnosed with cervical cancer each year.

Our multidisciplinary team of gynecologic, medical and radiation oncologists work together to provide state-of-the-art treatment for our patients and are committed to improving a woman's quality of life while she undergoes treatment.

Our gynecologic oncologists have expertise in performing complicated surgical procedures including radical hysterectomies, as a cure for early-stage cervical cancer without the need for radiation therapy.

In addition, the UW Carbone Cancer Center is one of only a few centers in the United States to perform radical trachelectomies, a procedure which removes the cervix but keeps the uterus intact to maintain fertility.
