A Daughter's Love: Walk for Courage
In five short weeks, 13-year-old Tess Hackworthy came up with a plan. She was going to support her mother, Amie, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She knew just how she was going to do it, as well. Tess was determined to hold a three-mile walk with all proceeds benefitting breast cancer research at the UW Carbone Cancer Center.
Walk for Courage was held on Saturday, May 1 in the village of Maple Bluff with more than 600 participants raising $50,000 for breast cancer research. A fitting tribute to a mother by a determined young daughter.
