Erectile Dysfunction and Cancer Patients

Men undergoing treatment for prostate cancer may experience erectile dysfunction post-treatment.

Some men who have prostate cancer may elect to undergo surgical treatment of their cancer. Both surgical and radiation treatments can result in side effects like erectile dysfunction.

Any of the treatment modalities - such as oral or injectible medications - can be successfully applied to men who have been treated for prostate cancer.

For men who may wish to become fathers in the future, it is important to discuss the potential effects of cancer treatments prior to undergoing the treatment.

UW Health urologists work directly with oncologists to provide men with a well coordinated effort in the treatment of their cancer and preservation of their sexual function and fertility.
