The Gift of Life: Christian's Story

Christian was a high school student who loved hanging with his friends, running with his cross-country team, playing in the high school band, and spending time with his family. He was a giving young man and was always looking for ways to help others.Christian was a high school student who loved hanging with his friends, running with his cross-country team, playing in the high school band, and spending time with his family. He was a giving young man and was always looking for ways to help others.

When he learned about organ donation during his driver's education class, Chris came home and told his family that he wanted to be an organ donor. His family realized just how important that decision would be just months later, when Chris died unexpectedly. His decision to become an organ donor has allowed Chris to continue his spirit of giving, and to live on in the lives he saved and helped.

Chris' family hosts an annual run walk in his honor. It's called the Hungry 4 Some Supper Myself Walk/Run, a funny saying Chris used to say to his mom. The run is held at Devil’s Lake State Park, and money raised goes to a local food pantry and scholarship in Chris’s honor. Volunteers staff a booth to educate people about organ donation.
