UW Health's Sports Medicine Classic is a daylong golf clinic and tournament that benefits sports medicine research at the University of Wisconsin.

Rules

  1. All team members drive from the tee. The team then selects the best shot, and all players play the next shot from the position of the selected ball, placing (or dropping) their ball within the agreed-upon distance from the spot. The same procedure is used on all shots, including putts. Every player's tee shot must be used at least three times.

  2. Men will play from the white tees; women from the red.

  3. The score of the first ball holed will count and that ends the stroke play for that hole.

  4. On the fairways, place balls within six to 12 inches of the ball selected for play. If the chosen ball is in the rough, it must be played first and the other three balls played within one club length of where the chosen ball lay. Each ball must be played from the rough.

  5. If the chosen ball is in a bunker (or water hazard), it must be played first and the three other balls placed within 12 inches of the original spot (in bunker). Sand may be raked between shots.

  6. On the putting green, each member of the group must putt before anyone attempts a second putt. When a putt has been holed, the remaining players do not putt.

  7. The order in which the group hits can be varied according to the strategy the team wishes to follow.

  8. The foursome with the lowest scramble score for 18 holes will be the winner. Awards and prizes will be presented for first, second and third place. If a team tie develops, the winning team will be decided by a scorecard playoff, beginning on the first hole.
