Multidisciplinary Thyroid Clinic
The Multidisciplinary Thyroid Clinic at UW Hospital and Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin brings together a complete team of health care professionals to treat benign and malignant thyroid nodules.
Optimal care for patients with thyroid nodules requires a multidisciplinary approach, with consultation and evaluation from providers with specialized training in this field. At UW Hospital and Clinics, patients can receive streamlined service for evaluation and care of thyroid nodules. This coordinated care involves endocrinologists, surgeons, and pathologists.
A typical evaluation for a patient with thyroid nodules includes a consultation with an endocrinologist, an ultrasound, a biopsy, and if needed a surgical consultation. At other institutions, it can take several weeks to months to schedule all the appropriate tests and consultations and it requires multiple visits for the patient. In order to expedite the care of our patients, UW Health has developed a Multidisciplinary Thyroid Clinic that allows a patient to see all the relevant providers and to complete their evaluation with just one visit.
