Our Sports Medicine fellowship-trained physicians are the team doctors for the Wisconsin Badgers.
The mission of the UW Health Athletic Training Residency Program is to prepare the athletic trainer to be a complete and versatile health care provider within the orthopedic clinic setting.
Sports Medicine Internships
Sports Medicine at UW Health offers two internship programs that prepare health professionals for careers in athletic training or exercise science.
An eight-week athletic training internship program that provides the candidate with comprehensive experiences in the sports medicine clinic, sports rehabilitation, preventive injury programming and on-the-field evaluation opportunities.
![]() The UW Health Sports Medicine Center offers internships to qualified candidates studying exercise physiology, exercise science, kinesiology or related fields.
The University of Wisconsin Sports Medicine Center hosts physical therapist assistant and graduate physical therapy students for clinical rotations that typically are four to 12 weeks in length. During the rotation, there may be opportunity to work with other programs such as Power2 Athletic Performance, spine physical therapy, radiology, Performance Spectrum, Athletic Training Outreach, or aquatic training/programs.
