UW Health Sports Medicine Fitness Center exercise classesThe UW Health Sports Medicine Center offers a variety of fitness, health and athletic performance classes for adults of all ages and fitness levels.
 
Classes are offered in the Fall, Winter/Spring, and Summer sessions. Many classes can be joined in progress with fees prorated (space permitting). Classes are half-price for Fitness Center members. Members of Unity and GHC HMOs and employees of UW Hospital and Clinics receive 20 percent off class prices.
 
Our goal is to help you incorporate exercise into your life on an enjoyable and consistent basis.

Fall Registration Dates
 
The winter class dates run from January 5-May 31, 2009.
 

Registration dates are:

  • Early registration 
    December 1-4, 2008
    Current class participants can re-enroll in the class they are currently taking
  • Preferred registration 
    December 5-7, 2008 
    Current class participants and Fitness Center members can register for any class
  • Open registration 
    December 8, 2008 
    Anyone can register for any class
Registration
 
To register for a Sports Medicine exercise class: 
  • Please call the Sports Medicine Center at (608) 263-7936 to check on space availability or any other concerns for the classes in which you are interested.
  • Complete a Registration Form (PDF) and fax (608-263-2215) or deliver (Sports Medicine Class Registration, 621 Science Dr., Madison 53711) to the Sports Medicine Center.
  • Have your doctor complete a Physician Authorization Form (PDF) and return it to the Sports Medicine Center at the address/fax number above.
  • Upon receipt of materials, we will contact you to arrange a required pre-participation screening.
If you have participated in a Sports Medicine exercise class within the past year, you do not have to have your doctor sign another authorization form nor do you have to undergo the pre-participation screening.
 
Who can participate?
 
All exercise classes are open to the public. Affiliation with the University of Wisconsin or UW Hospital and Clinics is not necessary to participate in any class. Our instructors are especially skilled at helping people with injuries, illnesses or other medical conditions select classes best suited for their needs. 
 
Registration notes 
  • All classes have limited enrollment, so please register early.
  • Participants who wish to re-enroll in a class they are currently taking may do so during the early registration period (one week before open registration).
  • You may begin classes after the starting date for a prorated fee.
