Antihistamines for Morning SicknessSkip to the navigation
Certain antihistamines such as dimenhydrinate or doxylamine, taken as your doctor advises, may relieve morning sickness.footnote 1 Doxylamine (Unisom SleepTabs) is available over-the-counter. If one of these antihistamines alone does not relieve your morning sickness, you can try taking it with vitamin B6.footnote 1 Talk to your doctor about the right dose.
Note: Do not confuse Unisom SleepTabs with Unisom SleepGels, which contain a different medicine.
A prescription medicine that combines doxylamine and vitamin B6 in one medicine (called Diclegis) is also available to treat morning sickness.
Common side effects of these medicines may include:
- Dry mouth, nose, or throat.
- Stomach upset.
