Mortality Rates - Post Surgical
The table below displays UW Hospital and Clinics' surgical mortality rate compared to University HealthSystems Consortium (UHC) benchmarks. The purpose of this measure is to show how well UW Hospital and Clinics does in providing clinical care and preventing mortality compared to our peers.
Surgical mortality rates include hospital stays that involve at least one major operative procedure. A ratio below 1.0 indicates performance better than expected based on the risk of the hospital stay - the lower the ratio, the better the performance. Our benchmark is the performance required to be among the top 10 percent of UHC's AAMC teaching hospital members.
