Hematology and Oncology Camps for Children and Families

girl horsebackriding; Hematology and Oncology Camps for Children and FamiliesChildhood cancer can have a devastating effect on a family's emotional, social and financial well-being. Hozhoni Weekend was developed to assist these families in dealing with their feelings.

For adults, the workshops deal with the emotional and financial aspects of having a child with cancer. For children, workshops deal with teaching children how to handle their cancer, what to tell friends, and how to enjoy life. These workshops promote positive self-images and emotional fitness. And camp wouldn't be complete without hiking, swimming, singing and campfires!

Eligible families must live in Wisconsin and have a child less than 18 years of age who has undergone cancer treatment within the past five years. The free camp is usually held the first weekend after Labor Day and serves approximately 40 families (200 people) per year.
