Fertility Preservation for Pediatric Cancer Patients

Our Services

As the efficacy of cancer treatment improves, young people are surviving many different types of cancers. With increased survivorship, the quality of life after treatment concludes is becoming an important topic to consider.

As part of the comprehensive treatment of cancer, it is necessary to consider those issues that can directly impact an individual's quailty of life. Both having cancer, and the treatment of cancer, can affect fertility. So it is important that, when possible, people be offered options to preserve their fertility in the event they may one day wish to become parents.

Fertility preservation may not be an option for all pediatric patients. In consultation with UW Health's Reproductive Endocrinologists, your child's oncologist can help families identify available options appropriate for their individual situation.
