UW Health's emergency transportation services program works with physicians, hospitals and emergency services to make available life-saving critical care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our Med Flight team is comprised of specially trained physicians, flight  nurses, dispatchers and pilots, and works within a 225-mile radius of Madison.
 
Med Flight's medical compartment is essentially a flying emergency room, equipped with airway equipment including a ventilator, blood pressure and heart monitors, IV equipment, defibrillators and pacemaker equipment.
 
Also on board is a complete array of emergency medicine drugs, including those for treating heart attacks and brain injuries.
 
And to expedite transfer of patients experiencing a STEMI heart attack to UW Hospital, our Level One Heart Attack Program is just a hotline call away at (877) MI2-UWHC.
 
Critical Care Transport

 

Critical Care Transport (formerly, Critical Care Transport, the ambulance of American Family Children's HospitalCHETA) is the American Family Children's Hospital
emergency transport ambulance and is a part of our
comprehensive transport program that includes
UW Med Flight. All of these modes of transport provide
the highest level of interfacility transport care available in
the region.

 

The Critical Care Transport provides a minimum team composition of advanced-trained, PALS-certified pediatric intensive care nurses and pediatric respiratory therapists.

 

A pediatric critical care fellow or staff physician may accompany the transport team if patient acuity
requires that level of care.
