Q. What is the Patient and Family Advisory Council?
A. The Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) represents a more formal way to involve patients and family members in our continuous commitment to improve the quality of care we deliver at UW Hospital and Clinics and the American Family Children's Hospital. Our advisory councils include:
- The UW Hospital and Clinics Adult Patient and Family Advisory Council, which focuses on the care of adult patients
- The American Family Children's Hospital Parent and Family Advisory Council focuses on the care of pediatric patients
Q. What is the primary goal of these advisory councils?
A. To improve the quality of care and service for our patients. We want to use the constructive input that only patients and family membres can provide to help future patients experience even higher levels of satisfaction.
Q. Can I join one of these advisory councils?
A. We are currently looking for people who would be interested in serving on either the adult or children's hospital councils. Ideal candidates are those who can provide insight and constructive feedback that will help our hospital improve the quality of care we provide to patients and family members. Those who join the advisory councils will undergo an application process that is required of all UW Hospital and Clinics volunteers.

Q. Who is on the advisory councils?
A. The advisory councils are comprised of patients, families and staff. Each council will include staff members from UW Hospital and Clinics and the American Family Children's Hospital to support the group's mission.
Q. What are the meeting obligations?
A. Meetings may vary in frequency, depending on the will of the membership. Please keep in mind that some of the activities may require a greater time commitment. Because space is limited on each Patient and Family Advisory Council, it is possible that not all applicants will be able to serve. All applications will be kept on file as future openings occur.
Q. Who can I contact if I have questions?
A. For the Adult Patient and Family Advisory Council, please contact Patient Relations at (608) 263-8009.
For the American Family Children's Hospital Parent and Family Advisory Council, please contact Patient and Family Services at (608) 890-7888.
