Certified Designated Requester Training
The University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics Organ Procurement Organization (UWHC OPO) provides a training program aimed at increasing health care professionals' comfort when discussing donation with a bereaved family. This program will increase your knowledge and help develop the skills needed to approach the subject of organ, tissue and eye donation with discretion and sensitivity to each family’s circumstances and beliefs. The self-study manual, which can be downloaded from the Related Resources section on this page, takes an estimated 45 minutes to an hour to complete. Upon completion of this program and self-test, participants will be Certified Designated Requesters.
As your partners in the mission to provide families with donation information, the staff at the UWHC OPO along with your hospital’s tissue and eye bank are available 24 hours each day to support you in the care of the bereaved family.
Drivers Education Curriculum
On July 1, 2000, the state of Wisconsin passed Assembly Bill 764, which requires all driver education courses in Wisconsin include at least 30 minutes of education on organ and tissue donation. The University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics Organ Procurement Organization (UWHC OPO) is supporting the implementation of this legislation by providing resources and materials to instructors throughout the state. |
