UW Health's Organ Procurement Organization joins donation advocacy groups across the state in introducing Dottie Donor Dot (pictured).

About Dottie

Dottie is a custom-made mascot who will be traveling the state to promote the "Got Your Dot?" campaign at public venues such as parades, sporting events, race/walks and health fairs.

When Dottie is on the scene, she'll be accompanied by organ donation advocates with a thorough knowledge of our current, critical shortage of donor organs. Dottie's escorts will help make people aware of the importance of donation and how they can sign up to be donors themselves.

Dottie is sponsored by WPS Insurance and their ORGANize to Save Lives statewide initiative. Their goal is to get one million more Wisconsinites to become donors by adding an orange dot to their driver's license.

• July 21-23: Farm Tech Days in Dodge County
• July 30: Eau Claire Express baseball game (5:30-7:30pm)
• August 4: Lake Mills Night Out (6-7pm), Lake Mills
• August 8: Milwaukee Liver Life Walk at Veterans Park (9-10am)
• August 22: Hailey Rath Run/Walk, Beloit
• September 13: Madison Liver Life Walk at Lake Farm Park (8:30-10am)

Why We Need Dottie 

• As of August 2008, the United Network for Organ Sharing reports 99,223 transplant candidates on the organ waiting list
• A new patient is added to the national list every 13 minutes
• 18 candidates die every day while awaiting suitable donor organs
• For every organ donated, up to eight lives can be saved
