The following tribute was written by Michael's mother, Karen.
Our precious son and brother will be missed by all who ever had the privilege of knowing Michael.
He had beautilful blue eyes and a contagious smile! His passion for life was felt by all who knew him for 18.5 short years. We were truly blessed to have him in our lives.
Our lives will never be the same after July 11, 2009 when Mikey was in a tragic auto accident. Michael was killed as a result of a drunk driving accident where he was a passenger.
Michael was declared clinically brain dead 16 hours after his accident. Due to his rare blood type, it took over 24 more hours to find matches for his organs. Michael donated his lungs, heart, liver, pancreas and kidneys to those waiting on the organ donor list.
Michael loved fishing, boating and basketball, but most of all he loved people. He could easily engage in conversation wih all people he met. Our Mikey was not afraid to live life!
Our wish is that all those who received Michael's organs can continue to live life with the passion Michael had. The journey we all face is a reminder that life is fragile and we must all be inspired to hug and love others as Michael did. We hold our childrens hands for awhile, their hearts forever.
