Helping you achieve your goals

UW Health Nutrition and Wellness offers a variety of educational and counseling sessions for people who want to improve their health through better nutrition.

Good health starts with good nutrition

UW Health registered dietitians are available to help.

UW Health dietitians will meet with you to review your usual eating patterns and habits and will work with you to set goals for better health.

  • Ask your primary care doctor about a referral for Nutrition Services

  • Call (608) 890-5500 to set up a Nutrition Clinic appointment

UW Health specialty clinics offer nutrition counseling for patients being seen for a wide variety of conditions, including cancer, diabetes, digestive health issues, heart issues, weight management, sports performance and rehabilitation, and many more. To access our specialty nutrition services:

  • If you're a patient at a UW Health specialty clinic, talk to your doctor or provider about nutrition services that are available.

  • Call your insurance company with questions about coverage. Please remember that some clinics require referrals and coverage will be determined by your insurance company.

UW Health offers group diabetes education classes at both Madison clinics and in surrounding communities. We will assist you in finding a class location and time that works for you. If your group class does not work for you, a 1-on-1 session might be possible.

Things you need to know before attending classes

  • Fees are billed to your insurance and are subject to the conditions of your plan.

  • Always check with your insurance provider for coverage benefits.

  • It is recommended that you bring a family member or support person with you to diabetes education sessions

The Lifestyle Change Programming at UW Health supports a Health At Every Size approach that looks internally for markers of lifestyle change which come through small steps towards achieving and maintaining a healthier lifestyle as it pertains to nutrition, activity, sleep and emotional and social well-being.
