Nurses at UW Hospital and Clinics deliver patient- and family-centered care through professional nursing practice that is compassionate, respectful, accountable and nonjudgmental.
Nursing leaders are visible, accessible and knowledgeable, and promote exemplary interdisciplinary relationships and collaboration.
The Nursing Executive Council (NEC) establishes a vision of professional nursing practice that corresponds to the mission and strategic direction of the UW Hospital and Clinics. We promote a positive atmosphere that supports all nurses as they deliver care.
At the department, unit, clinic and program level, clinical nurse managers encourage excellence in clinical practice, patient- and family-centered care, and interdisciplinary collaboration through the fiscally responsible management of human and other resources.
Nurse managers provide leadership within the parameters of UW Hospital and Clinics professional practice model and assume 24-hour accountability for management of their areas. We will continue to actively collaborate with professional nurses to facilitate lifelong learning and professional development, and to promote superior patient care.
We seek to create an environment that entices professional nurses to remain in the UW Hospital and Clinics academic health science system throughout their career in nursing practice.
