UW Hospital and Clinics Wins Consumer Choice Award Again
Madison, Wisconsin - University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics is the Consumer Choice Award winner in both Madison and Janesville, according to a national survey of consumer perceptions.
The hospital was recognized for consistently offering the "best overall quality, best overall reputation, best doctors and best nurses" among hospitals in the Madison and Janesville areas.
The findings come from a nationwide survey of 270,000 households representing more than 450,000 consumers. The 3,200 hospitals named by consumers are then analyzed and ranked based on their geographic area. UW was ranked the highest in both the Madison and Janesville areas. This is the 10th time UW has ranked at the top in Madison and the second time it has ranked at the top for Janesville.
"Delivering high-quality, safe care centered around what patients and families need has been a top priority for our hospital for several years," hospital president and CEO Donna Katen-Bahensky said. "This is a testimony to the value we bring to the communities we serve."
National Research Corporation (NRC) of Lincoln, Nebraska, conducted the Ticker survey of consumer perceptions on several quality and image ratings. The NRC says that no other study measures hospital performance and preferences and contains more consumer responses than the NRC study. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 0.2 percent at a national level.
UW Hospital and Clinics, with 566 beds, is part of UW Health, which also includes the UW Medical Foundation and UW School of Medicine and Public Health. It serves patients from Wisconsin and many other states and is a primary teaching site for a wide range of students in the health professions.
