UW Health Employees to Perform for Children's Hospital Saturday

American Family Children's Hospital's Sing for the Children 3

 Highlights from the
2010 Sing for the Children

MADISON - Two years ago, American Family Children's Hospital psychologist Dr. Stephanie Farrell was singing about her boots.

This year, she will be crooning about diamonds when she performs in Sing for the Children 3, Saturday at the Orpheum Theater, 216 State Street, Madison.

Farrell will be among a number of UW doctors and hospital staffers performing on stage with proceeds to benefit the children's hospital's patients and family fund.

Farrell, who sang the Nancy Sinatra hit "These Boots Are Made For Walkin" in 2009, will entertain the crowd this year with her rendition of "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend," which was performed by Marilyn Monroe in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes."

"I have been singing since I was a child, and I like to make people smile," says Farrell, who has performed in local theater, school musicals and dramas. "American Family Children's Hospital is a special place to work. It is a fabulous facility with beautiful amenities for children, but most important are the families I am privileged to meet who inspire me with their stories of strength and resiliency."

Marty Zietlow, a senior physical therapist at UW Health Middleton Rehabilitation Clinic, will perform the John Cougar Mellencamp tune, Pink Houses, with Dr. Michael Huie from the hematology/oncology clinic.

"I've been singing since high school 25 years ago," says Zietlow, who even sang at his own wedding reception. "I'm singing in this show to do something for a good cause, and I'm glad for any opportunity to make music."

The show will also include a performance by Denny Diamond, a Neil Diamond tribute artist.

Sing for the Children 3 will be co-emceed by 96.3 Star Country morning host John Flint and Ch. 27 meteorologist Brian Olson. There will be shows at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m.

General admission is $15. VIP tickets offered at the 7:30 show for $75 will include priority seating, hors d'oeuvres and beverages.
