Top Honor for UW Hospital's Emergency Clinical Manager
Madison, Wisconsin - A nurse leader at University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics has been named Outstanding Emergency Department Nurse Leader of 2012 by the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA).
The ENA said Tami Morin, since 2008, was selected for the award based on significant contributions to emergency medicine collaboration, quality patient care, operational effectiveness, education, community service and synergistic approach to leadership within the hospital and emergency department.
"Tami is an exemplary leader and is truly deserving of this award," hospital president and CEO Donna Katen-Bahensky said. "Her focus on the patient and her ability to collaborate with her colleagues form the foundation of her success. It is wonderful the Emergency Nurses Association is recognizing something everyone at UW Health has known for a long time: Tami's ability, commitment and compassion are special and worthy of recognition."
In addition to her duties as manager of clinical operations in the emergency department, Morin has been instrumental in ongoing disaster and large casualty event planning. She also was on a team that developed a staff protocol designed to minimize violence in the emergency department.
Morin will receive the award from the 39,000-member national association on February 23 at the annual ENA Leadership Conference in New Orleans.
