Steven Means Joins UW Medical Foundation as General Counsel
Madison, Wisconsin - Steven Means, former executive assistant attorney general in the Wisconsin Department of Justice, has joined the University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation (UWMF) as vice president of legal services & compliance and general counsel.
Means had served as executive assistant attorney general since January 2011. Before that he was an assistant AG and deputy administrator of the DOJ’s division of legal services, where he supervised nearly 100 attorney positions in civil and criminal litigation, consumer protection, criminal appeals, environmental protection, Medicaid fraud control and elder abuse, and state programs and revenue units.
Before joining the DOJ in 2007, Means worked for Michael Best & Friedrich in Madison, Wisconsin. Means graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law, with high distinction, in 1987. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in political science and religion from Luther College.
With more than 1200 physicians, UWMF is one of Wisconsin’s largest multi-specialty group practices. UWMF doctors are all members of the faculty of the UW School of Medicine and Public Health.
