Online Program Offers Simple Steps to Become Heart Healthy
Madison, Wisconsin - Coming February 1, "28 Days, 28 Ways to Love Your Heart" online program will offer simple steps to become heart-healthy.
Take just five minutes a day to show your heart – and yourself – a little love this February. From February 1-28, 2014, UW Health and Shilagh Mirgain, PhD, health psychologist, will offer simple steps, inspiring videos, practical posts and helpful tools to help you take better care of yourself through an online program: "28 Days, 28 Ways to Love Your Heart."
Each week of the 28-day program will have a theme focused on how to make change:
- Change Your Mind, Change Your Life
- Emotions and Eating
- Get Inspired to Get Moving
- Staying Motivated
Dr. Mirgain will share her thoughts on how to achieve success through two video posts each week on topics including: goal setting, finding your inner motivation, stress eating, making time for exercise and more.
Dr. Mirgain works with individuals at all stages of health – from preventive cardiology patients to triathletes – to create personalized wellness plans, overcome obstacles and to learn new self-care tools.
"We all know the prescription for good health – eat right and exercise – but life often gets in the way," she says, "It is possible to make change, but it's about showing up for yourself in an entirely new way."
UW Health supports the American Heart Association’s through sponsorship of the Go Red For Women movement in the Madison area. The "28 Days, 28 Ways to Love Your Heart" program incorporates American Heart Association resources to help individuals address the number one threat to their health – heart disease.
