How Good Nutrition Cuts Health Care Costs

As a nutrition professor in the UW School of Medicine and Public Health's Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Julie Mares, MSPH, PhD, conducts research, teaching and community outreach directed toward improving relationships between food and health that supports healthy vision.

 

Along with her team, she focuses on eye health in older age, but is interested in approaches that contribute to the overall general health and well-being of individuals of all ages and the communities in which we live.

 

In a recent article from the Capital Times newspaper, Dr. Mares discusses the importance of good nutrition and how it can reduce overall health care costs.
