Free Skiing and Snowboarding Safety Seminar Dec. 18

Young skiierMadison, Wisconsin - Downhill skiing and snowboard enthusiasts of all ages and ability levels can learn how to stay safe on the slopes this winter during a free community seminar hosted by UW Health Sports Medicine.

 

The event will be held from 5-6pm on December 18 at Tyrol Basin Ski and Snowboard Area, 3487 Bohn Rd., in Mount Horeb.

Attendees will learn the latest strategies in injury prevention from experts in the field of sports medicine. Topics will include appropriate training, on-slope strategies for injury prevention, and the role of equipment in preventing the most common alpine sports injuries.

 

Presenters will include Dr. Alison Brooks and physical therapist Patrick Grabowski, both with UW Health Sports Medicine.

 

Grabowski is board-certified in orthopedics and spent five years working with winter athletes in Vail and Beaver Creek, Colo; Dr. Brooks is board-certified in pediatrics and sports medicine and has published multiple articles on ski and snowboard injuries.
