Limited Vaccine

We currently have H1N1 vaccine available for all patients of any age, with or without underlying health conditions.

However, we have very limited quantities of seasonal flu vaccine available at some locations. If you wish to obtain seasonal vaccine, please contact your clinic regarding availability.

If you have flu-like symptoms and have a clinic appointment, please call your clinic before coming to your visit (please refer to our Locations and Maps listing for phone numbers).

Vaccine Recall Update

On Dec. 23, 2009, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that 13 lots of H1N1 nasal mist vaccine made by Medimmune were being voluntarily recalled because the potency of the vaccine may not be adequate for future administration.

UW Health received 200 doses from the recalled lots of this vaccine formulation. We are currently gathering all unadministered doses to return to the manufacturer. Per the CDC, doses administered prior to Dec. 23 were fully potent when administered, and patients who may have received them do not need to be contacted or revaccinated.

On Dec. 15, 2009, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that about 800,000 doses of H1N1 vaccine made by Sanofi Pasteur were being voluntarily recalled because the antigen content was below specified limits.

UW Health did NOT receive any doses from the recalled lots of this vaccine formulation. None of the doses we received were impacted by this recall.

We will provide additional updates as more information becomes available. Please call our flu hotline at (608) 265-7757 or toll-free at (888) 896-8773 for updates, or check our flu Web site at www.uwhealth.org/flu.
