The neuromuscular laboratory at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin performs diagnostic muscle, nerve and punch skin biopsies.

 

The laboratory is staffed by two myologists/neurologists and one neuropathologist. These specialists provide complete diagnostic interpretation of muscle and nerve biopsies along with punch skin biopsy for epidermal nerve fiber density analysis. In addition, two full-time technologists offer outstanding services in histology, enzyme histochemistry, immunohistochemistry and electron microscopy of muscle, nerve and punch skin biopsy tissues.

 

Muscle, nerve and punch skin biopsy specimens from outside hospitals or surgical facilities may be referred to the UW Hospital and Clinics neuromuscular laboratory for processing, staining and interpretation.
