Management and Education Services for Healthcare (MESH) is a patient- and family-centered acuity classification and staffing system designed to identify what makes each patient's care unique.
Management and Education Services for Healthcare (MESH): Emergency Department (ED) Log
The Emergency Department (ED) Log module is one of four modules available in the MESH system. The screenshot below is taken directly from the ED Log module.
The ED Log features the ability to interface patient demographic fields (highlighted in yellow) with your site-specific ADT software. The ED Log is a retrospective review of patient encounters and includes the creation and monitoring of a variety of quality metrics. A total of 30 different reports can be generated, including returns within 24–72 hours, AMAs and physician stand-by time.

ED Physician Stand-by Time
Accurately capturing ED physician stand-by time can have a positive impact on federal reimbursement dollars for your facility.
Organizations of all sizes can submit documentation including the number of hours the ED physician was on stand-by and receive various levels of compensation from Medicare. CAH (Critical Access Hospital) facilities will receive direct reimbursement from Medicare for the stand by time. Non-CAH facilities will submit the information using the following formula:
Number of hours empty (fiscal or calendar year) X percentage of Medicare patients seen in the ED X physicians wage and benefits (percentage allowed by Medicare) = reimbursable dollar value.
In the ED Log, Treatment Start Time is defined as the time of day the physician enters the patient's room. Treatment End Time is defined as the time of day that the physician determined the final diagnosis and if able dictated an ED visit record.
