Meet Our Volunteers

spacer
At UW Health, our volunteer ambassadors go above and beyond the call of duty. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to these special individuals who continue to demonstrate extraordinary service to our patients and their families.

These are just a few of the friendly volunteer faces you'll find at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics and American Family Children's Hospital:

Lisa Christianson, UW Health volunteer

Lisa Christianson

As a volunteer since 2005, Lisa has played a variety of roles at UW Hospital and Clinics, the former UW Children's Hospital, and now the new American Family Children's Hospital. Her willingness to do whatever is needed and her ability to bring smiles to patients' faces has been invaluable.

Elfrieda Kulick, UW Health volunteer

Elfrieda Kulick

With a volunteer history of more than 20 years, Elfrieda has consistently played a strong role in providing excellent customer service at the UW Hospital and Clinics Gift Shop. Having volunteered almost 2,800 hours over those years has made her a familiar - and very friendly - face around here.

Jane Schmieding, UW Health volunteer

Jane Schmieding

In her role at the main hospital Information Desk, Jane helps people to find their way and answers their questions. She performs those same valuable functons as part of her work with the UW Health MS Clinic since 1990. Her many contributions there include being the facilitator of the Newly Diagnosed Program.

Douglas Spaanem, UW Health volunteer

Doug Spaanem

Doug logged over 1,800 hours from 2001-2007 with his work assembling lab kits for the Transplant Clinic. He has now transitioned into a paid position providing the same service. His friendly demeanor and attention to detail are greatly appreciated by all of those who have the pleasure of working with him.
