Governor Honors UW Medical Foundation For Support of Military Veterans
Each year, the State of Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs hosts a ceremony at the Wisconsin State Fair in West Allis to honor veterans and their families. This year, in addition to thanking these veterans, Governor Scott Walker honored groups and individuals who have partnered with WDVA on initiatives that support veteran employment.
UW Medical Foundation was among the organizations invited to the ceremony, where Governor Walker presented Bill Schrum, UWMF vice president of human resources, with an award for UWMF's advocacy on behalf of the state's military veterans through its business practices and partnerships.
"Being a veteran myself, this recognition was extremely meaningful to receive," Schrum said. "Military veterans are special folks who put their lives on the line for our country. They need to be given opportunities to secure careers that utilize their talents and allow them to feel valued at home and within their community. We're proud to help provide some of those opportunities."
