Employee Profiles: Michael McGrew, Lead Consultant
Michael is a lead consultant employed by the University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation: I am a Lead Consultant with an Industrial Engineer degree in the Care and Quality Innovations department for the UW Medical Foundation. We concentrate on quality improvement projects ranging from large scale, multi-organizational initiatives, to smaller scale clinic-specific improvements.
I think that I bring an alternative perspective on project management and quality improvement that is fairly new to health care in general, and certainly to the UW Medical Foundation. By combining my skills with the more clinically-centered skills of other members on our team, we can provide a more complete picture of what is needed in projects. As a result, we can do more, in less time, and have better results overall.
It is very rewarding watching people learn and use the tools that I have personally taught them to continue to make improvements in their clinics. The knowledge that I have helped a clinician or staff member provide better or more efficient care to their patients makes me feel very proud.
The people I work with are phenomenal, and it is very nice to know that there is support from all the way to the top of the organization. This is just a great place to work. I feel there are many opportunities for me here, and that my education and level of understanding will continue to grow along with my career.
