Our Working Mothers - Nikki Engledow, RN, Nursing

Working Mother awardNikki Engledow came to UW Hospital and Clinics in 2003 as a traveling nurse. After working at many hospitals across the country, Nikki decided she wanted to stay at UW Hospital and Clinics to further her career.

She started as a care team leader, and after returning from maternity leave, she was promoted to nursing supervisor.

Nikki says, “I was excited that the position was 36 hours/week from 3-11:30pm, which allows me to pursue a career in management and also be able to be home with my boys for the majority of the day!”

Nikki loves the family-focused culture at UW Hospital and Clinics. From access to a convenient and comfortable lactation room when she returned from work after having her second child, to the supportive atmosphere and added benefits like a UW Hospital and Clinics discount for her family to stay at a local indoor water park resort, Nikki feels she’s a better mom because she works here.

Nikki adds, “I really appreciate working for a company where I am encouraged and supported to advance my career, but the company’s leadership doesn’t forget that I’m a mom, too.”

At UW Hospital and Clinics, there’s so many on-site conveniences: a cafeteria if a mom doesn’t have time to pack her lunch, a pharmacy to pick up a sick child’s prescription, a convenience store to pick up a gallon of milk, some stamps, or a pre-made meal for a family before heading home.
